| This is a well-maintained course that plays long. The fairways are plush and open, and the greens are large and fast. The flat terrain is very walkable. There are several creeks flowing throughout the course. Pautipaug Country Club's course was recently renovated and reopened in July 2002. Architect Stephen Kay reengineered, relocated, and reshaped much of the course and bunkers. New tee boxes were added allowing four sets of tees. These renovations were undertaken in order to make the course more difficult for single-digit handicaps and easier for 20-handicaps. All sand traps were imporved (some traps have been added or moved, and all traps have been reengineered to improve drainage). Irrigation has been added to keep the traps and surrounding rough consistent. Tee boxes added to make the course more playable for women and added tees for senior players. Some fairways have been reshaped, and overall the course was made much more pleasing to the eye. |
